GLTC Race Update - Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course 2024

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course featured both A-Main and B-Main races. The top-half of the qualifiers would make it to the A-Main and the remainder would race in the B-Main.

Carlos Mendez started the weekend with no time set in practice. He qualified P32 with a lap time of 1:38.290. This was fast enough to qualify for in the A-Main races.

In Race 1, Mendez advanced 7 positions to finish P25 with a time of 1:37.997. He continued to improve in Race 2, moving up to P18. In Race 3, he moved up 2 spots and secured P16 with his best lap of the weekend, 1:37.130.

In Race 4, Mendez moved up 1 spot and finished P15. Throughout the weekend, Mendez displayed a steady upward trajectory, showing consistent improvement in each race.

A good friend of the team, Nick Fuller, competed in his Condor Equipped Spec E9x.
Thomas Lathrop began the weekend qualifying P38 with a time of 1:39.158. In Race 1/B, Lathrop moved up one spot, finishing P5 with a lap time of 1:40.908, and this moved him up to the A main for the next race. His performance improved in Race 2/A, where he moved up 4 positions to finish P26 with a time of 1:38.547. This effort wasn’t enough to keep him from bumping down to the B main again.

Race 3/B was a tough one, as he started P2 but dropped back to P6 with a lap time of 1:38.666. In Race 4/B, an 11-car invert had Lathrop start P5 ahead of some very fast drivers that had fallen back to the B main. He finished P11 with a lap time of 1:39.384. Despite some ups and downs, Lathrop demonstrated competitive speed and the ability to make significant gains during the early races.
