The 1M was packed with the with a 3.0L inline six engine, producing 340 hp at 5900 rpm and 332 lb·ft torque from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. The redline is 7,000 rpm. The 1 Series M Coupe reaches 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds and the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds at 107.7 mph. The sole available transmission is a six-speed manual gearbox with an M gearshift knob, a 3.15:1 final drive ratio and a limited slip differential. 740 were sold in the US and 220 sold in Canada. 6039 cars sold worldwide.
