CSF designed this oil cooler as a true 1-to-1 replacement for the OEM unit — same mounting points, hardware, and lines. For EU E36 M3 or USDM Z3M owners, it's a straightforward drop-in fit. E36 models that didn't come with a factory oil cooler can add one using the BimmerWorld Euro Oil Cooler Bracket Kit, paired with an OEM-spec radiator or CSF's High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiator (#3054).

The factory cooler uses a Tube & Fin design — fine for cooling performance, but not the most durable construction. CSF upgraded to a Bar & Plate core for added durability, particularly valuable given how close to the ground these coolers sit and the track abuse they can take. The "Aero-Flow" bar design keeps weight down while maintaining strength and airflow, with turbulated multi-louvered fins to boost heat exchange rates.
