CSF Group A / DTM Race Style Oil Cooler - BMW E30

The E30's factory cooling system was solid for its era, but aggressive driving and track days expose its limits — especially on cars with decades-old, weathered coolers. CSF's answer draws on real racing pedigree: it's built to the same enlarged spec BMW engineered for the championship-winning Group A / DTM E30 M3, which increased factory cooler capacity by ~50% while keeping the stock mounts and connectors.
CSF's version updates that proven formula with a rugged Bar & Plate core and lightweight "Aero-Flow" bar design, replacing the OEM tube-and-fin construction (5 tubes vs. CSF's 7). Cast, 100% TIG-welded end tanks replace BMW's stamped-and-brazed design for far greater durability. It's a true bolt-on — no custom mounting hardware needed — and comes with a fitting kit for both OEM-style and -10 AN male connections. Proven in real competition, a prototype version helped a 700HP turbo M52-swapped E30 keep oil temps in check en route to a 3rd-in-class finish at Pikes Peak.

Fitment
| Year Range | Make | Chassis | Model | Engine |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1988–1991 | BMW | E30 | M3 | 2.3L L4 |
⚠️ Fitment Notes
- 1986–1993 E30 M3 (S14): Adapter fittings push the factory hard line out ~1/2", so factory support brackets on the back of the radiator won't line up — lines still route and connect properly.
- 1985–1987 (up to 09/87) E30 325 w/ factory oil cooler: Requires custom lines — the factory hard line normally passes over the cooler, but this unit is too tall for that routing.
- 1988–1993 E30 325 w/ factory oil cooler: Requires custom lines and mounting hardware (chassis has OEM mounting provisions — see parts list below).
- 1984–1993 E30 3-Series w/o factory oil cooler: Requires lines, mounting hardware, and a sandwich plate or oil hookup provision (chassis has OEM mounting provisions — see parts list below).
